History
The Jepejo Gundogs were established in 1977 with the purchase of our first Labrador, Max.
He was a black dog, born on 8th September. Bred by Mrs. J. Birchall of Maghull, his sire was
International Champion Oakhouse Glenarem Classic and his dam Black Dream of Korraines.
Max rejoiced, finally, after much to-ing and fro-ing with the Kennel Club’s two-tier system operating at that time in the name of Jepejo Black Classic. He had a good pedigree and so we decided to have a go at showing. We soon learned that Max was not the greatest Labrador in the world but the bug had bitten, and more Labradors followed. Our first bitch Rothmand Sheba of Jepejo came to us as a four year old lady already the mother of one litter. In 1980 we had our first litter from Sheba by my son's dog Bribetan Black Rock. Six more litters were bred at Jepejo from J.Jessica, J. Joanna and J. Jingle Belle. Jessica’s daughter J. Jayne winning her stud book number. Our last Labrador was Jack, Blackjack of Jepejo who died in March 2002. Out of J. Jingle Jangle sister to J.Jingle Belle.
In 1993 our first GWP, Brillo, came to live at Jepejo. We had watched them in the showring for a number of years, liking what we saw, especially Sh.Ch. Wittekind Eva Braun at Bareve. It was to be a few years until we were able to have two of her descendants. Our affix was granted in April 1978.
Jean was elected a full member of the Kennel Club in November 2007.
